Meet Our Team

A Tribe of Healers, Mentors, and Peers

At The Tikvah Center, we don't look down from an ivory tower. Many of us have looked up from the same rock bottom.

We are a modest, community-rooted team that combines top-tier clinical credentials with the hard-won wisdom of lived experience. From board-certified psychiatrists and trauma specialists to compassionate Rabbis and recovery coaches, we are united by a single purpose: to walk beside you on the journey home.

We are not just treating a diagnosis. We are welcoming you into a family.

Clinical Expertise, Rabbinic Compassion

Clinical Counseling Experience

My clinical counseling experience is with mental health disorders, people recovering from injury or illness, people recovering from substance use disorders and non-substance related addictions, marriage and family counseling, survivors of religious and spiritual trauma, and people looking to integrate religion and/or spirituality into their counseling sessions.

Philosophical/Theoretical Approach to Therapy

My approach to supervision is grounded in narrative practices and rooted in traditions of rabbinic counseling. These practices include a belief that you have the skills and capabilities to change your relationship with a problem so that it no longer dominates your life. Together we can collaborate on re-telling the story of your strengths and resiliency to make it easier to access your skills and capabilities. You can access a series of case studies that reflect some of my work using Jewish metaphors in narrative practice with people resisting addictions at the International Journal of Narrative Therapy and Community Work.

Professional Care, Personal Understanding

Merging clinical expertise with the authentic wisdom of lived experience, our team provides the compassionate, judgment-free guidance of those who truly understand the path to healing.

Sharazazi Dyson
PhD, LPC
Clinician

I have a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois and an M.Ed. in Counseling from DePaul University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois.

My clinical counseling experience is with mental health disorders and working with adolescents, couples and families. I have worked in high schools, 4-year college, and community college settings with minors and adults with a range of academic, interpersonal, and wellness concerns and people looking to integrate culture and identity into their counseling sessions.

I draw from a person-centered, multicultural and feminist framework. This grounds how I work with my clients in exploring who they are and how they would like to live their lives. My goal is to create space for my clients to explore healthy ways to reduce, manage and resolve their concerns and to see you as a whole person and not a problem that needs fixing.
