Community Recovery Outreach
Meeting You Where You Are...Literally
This is not a clinical appointment, and it’s not an intervention. It is a human connection.

What is community recovery outreach?
Walking through the doors of a treatment center can feel like the hardest journey of your life. Sometimes, the fear, shame, or uncertainty is just too heavy to carry alone. That is why we don't wait for you to come to us.
Our Community Recovery Outreach program is designed to break down the walls of the clinical setting. We send a dedicated Outreach Specialist—someone who has walked the path of addiction and lives a vibrant life of recovery—to meet you in your community. Whether it’s a coffee shop, a park, or your living room, we are ready to listen.
To us, Community Outreach is a "mobile hand extended in friendship." It provides an opportunity for individuals or family members to sit down with a specialist who understands recovery from the inside out. There are no clipboards, no intake forms, and no pressure—just two people drinking coffee and sharing a conversation about what life looks like on the other side of addiction.
The Benefits of Recovery Outreach
By moving the conversation out of the office and into the community, we offer several unique benefits:
- Zero Intimidation: Clinical settings can be scary. Meeting in a neutral, familiar space removes the anxiety of "going to rehab" and allows for a more honest conversation.
- The Power of Story: Our Outreach Specialists share their own personal stories of struggle and redemption. This shared experience destroys the feeling of isolation and proves that recovery is actually possible.
- Family Support: Often, it is the family that needs the first meeting. We meet with spouses and parents to help them understand addiction and navigate the confusing world of treatment options.
- Immediate Connection: When a window of willingness opens, we can be there quickly. We bridge the gap between "thinking about help" and "getting help."
- Navigation Assistance: The healthcare system is complex. Our specialist acts as a guide, helping you understand insurance, levels of care, and the admission process.

How Does Community Recovery Outreach Work?
Our process is simple, confidential, and informal.
1. The Request
It starts with a phone call or email, either from the individual struggling or a concerned family member. You let us know that you aren't ready to come in, but you are ready to talk.
2. The Meet-Up
We arrange a time and place that is convenient and comfortable for you.
- For the individual: We might meet at a local Starbucks, a diner, or a quiet park bench.
- For the family: We can come to your home or a neutral third location.
3. The Connection
Our Outreach Specialist listens to your story and shares theirs. This is peer-to-peer support. The goal is to build trust and show you that you are not alone.
4. The Bridge
If and when you are ready, the Specialist helps you access services. Whether that means coming to The Tikvah Center for treatment, finding a detox facility, or simply finding a local 12-step meeting, we hold your hand through the transition.
5. The Jewish Perspective
This program is the embodiment of Bikur Cholim (visiting the sick) and Kiruv (bringing close). We believe in going out into the world to find the sparks of light in others, rather than waiting for them to find us.

We strongly encourage family involvement. Addiction affects the whole family unit, and recovery is most successful when the family heals together. We offer family support groups and family therapy sessions as part of the PHP curriculum.
A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is more intensive, often requiring 5 to 6 hours of treatment daily, five days a week. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is less time-intensive (usually 9 hours per week) and is often the next step down after completing a PHP.
No. Our center is a judgment-free zone open to Jews of all backgrounds—secular, reform, conservative, or orthodox—as well as non-Jewish individuals seeking high-quality care. We respect where you are in your spiritual journey.
